Kristnitaka við Grettistöku – Advent of Christianity Grettir-style

Here is a brief comment on the subject matter from my reply to a friend’s email today:

In Augustan-Saga-Shakespeare Myth, Light of the World is linked (by Romans in mid-millennium B.C., when the Houses of the Zodiac were named) with LEO.

Later I came across a booklet by MIT astronomer Owen Gingerich on “The Astronomy of the Ancients”.

Gingerich has studied the layout of Stonehenge with respect to the position of the starry heavens at the time it was laid down.

He reported that the layout indicated that, at Sunrise at Dawn of Mid-summer day, the Sun was seen by Regulus, the brightest star of the quarter of the heavens which includes Leo.

This invites an interesting hypothesis about the astronomical background of Saga Settlement Myth:

1 = Monad/Solar Ray penetrating Stonehenge, falling on a Pillar between the point of entry and  the Center, thereby casting a Shadow on the Center.

5002 = Stonehenge

5003 = Þrídrangr – island where the World was created according to Einar Pálsson.

Also according to Einar, The Sacred Triangle of Pagan Iceland was linked to the following landmarks:

7196 = Bergþórshváll

6067 = Miðeyjarhólmr – Hólmurinn þar sem Gunnar sneri aftur!

  3027 = Helgafell

16290

After the “burning” of Njáll, Flosi and his men go up on the mountain Þríhyrningr and stay there three days.

In Grettissaga, the title character – symbol of Cosmic Creative Power – was an OUTLAW in Drangey, 2666.

When his “fire” died down, he swam ashore at night, fell asleep naked on the living-room floor of a farmstead.

In the morning, a dumb farm-girl entered the room.

The sheets which covered Grettir sleeping had slid off him, exposing his private parts.

The dumb farm-girl giggled and remarked to an older woman that it was a surprise to see how “small” this robust man was down there.

Grettir was awake with his eyes closed and, when the silly girl stepped over him on the floor he grabbed hold of her and…

…the dumb farm-girl went away and made no more jokes about the “small” size of his Manhood.

Ok, so let’s add up:

5003 + 16290 + 2666 = 23959.

As in

12685 = Höfðingjaskipti varð í Nóregi.

11274 = Ok fara menn við þat heim af þingi.

23959

Regards,

Gunnar

Ég ákvað að gerast bloggari á pressan.is til að geta komið skoðunum mínum í þeim efnum á framfæri.
